ENTRANT'S EMAIL - 3/7/23
Thank you for your entry to the first Horton Heath 10K on Sunday. The race was previously the Wyvern 10K, which ran from 2012 through to 2019. Apart from the name and a few tweaks to the route, not much has changed.
There is a lot of additional information on the race website at www.hortonheath10k.co.uk
Key things to note are...
The race starts at 9.00am from the running track at Wyvern College in Fair Oak. The address is Botley Road, Fair Oak, Eastleigh, SO50 7AN.
The early start is to try and avoid the potential heat of a warm July day and to minimise traffic disruption to local residents.
There is limited car parking onsite and at other locations nearby. Please try and minimise car use wherever possible and follow the car parking marshals' instructions. Further travel/parking information is on the website.
Please note that dogs are not permitted on the College grounds.
Race numbers will be collected on the day of the race from the race village adjacent to the start/finish on the running track at the college. Registration is from 8.00am. on Sunday. Please complete the medical information on the rear of the race number.
If you're unable to run, please do not pass your details on for somebody else to run as you. Entries can be transferred free of charge by completing the TRANSFER FORM on the website. The cut-off for transfers is midnight on Thursday the 6th of July.
The course is an out and back route from the College running track, into Dean Road, along Allington Lane, into Fir Tree Lane (currently closed to through traffic), into Burnetts Lane, to the 5K turnaround point in Chalcroft Way.... and then back again.
Please take care in Fir Tree Lane, where there is construction work in progress, and follow the marshals' instructions.

For this reason, in-ear or over-ear personal headphones or ear-buds are not permitted.
There will be a water station around the 2K/8K marker and also near the 4K/6K marker. Water will also be available at the finish. In previous years on hot days, local residents along the route have also had their hoses out to cool down runners. The temperature on Sunday is currently forecast to be around 19C.
The race will be chip timed. The chip is on the reverse of your race number. Please do not damage this. To obtain a chip time, please ensure that you cross the timing mats at the start and at the finish of the race.
On finishing, you will receive a memento of your achievement... Congratulations!
